While I lived in Japan in 2006, I watched the Olympic Games in Torino. The absolute highlight was the opening ceremony with L. Pavarotti singing 'Nessun Dorma'; two weeks later, S. Arakawa won the Gold Medal in Figure Skating - with 'Nessun Dorma' as her choice of music.
Shortly afterwards, I arranged Puccini's most famous aria for the organ and performed it several times in concert - to the huge delight of the Japanese public...
